I was born in Novi Ligure (AL) on Nov. 25, 1974. I graduate at the Scientific High School of Novi Ligure in 1993. I got the University Degree in Chemistry at the University of Genoa in July 1999, when I graduated with honors (summa cum laude) with a thesis entitled "Ring-opening of 3-nitrotiophenes: access to new 2-nitro-1.3-butadienic building-blocks" (supervisor Prof. Novi). During my period of military service, in November 1999 I became qualified to practice as a Chemist after passing the State Exam. In 2001 I worked at the Faculty of Science of University of Genoa with the position of IT officer in the Educational Project "E-learning" of that Faculty. In 2002-2003, I worked in the research group of organic synthesis lead by Professors Dell'Erba, Novi and Petrillo as the winner of the scholarship "Synthesis of new building-blocks and ring-opening of thiophene derivatives". I continued my work in the same group in the next two years as a contractor under the project "Synthesis of new building-blocks via ring-opening reactions of thiophene derivatives". In the period 2006-2008 I made my Ph.D. activities at the High School of Science and Technology of Chemistry and Materials of the University of Genoa; in March 2009, I got the title of Doctor of Philosophy in Chemical Science and Technology with a thesis entitled "Nitro-and dinitro-butadienic building-blocks from nitrotiophenes: new perspectives for their use in organic synthesis". In 2009-2010 I continued my research in the group of Prof. Petrillo as a Research Assistant within the project "Protocols of ring opening / ring closing from nitrotiophenes for the synthesis of homo-and hetero-cycles with synthetic and / or application interest". In 2011 I worked in the same group as a contractor under the project "Support to the design and synthesis of nitroethylenic derivatives with potential pharmacological activity". In December 2011 I got a permanent position at the University of Genoa as Researcher (in the scientific sector CHIM/06) and from January 2012 I’m an official member of the Department of Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry (DCCI) of the University of Genoa. My scientific production, largely focused on the ring-opening reactions of variously substituted nitrotiophenes and the study of the synthetic and biological uses and the pharmacological activity of the wide range of products they can provide, consists of more than thirty publications in international journals and over sixty publications in national and international conference proceedings.
